When Carter Mason moved to Southern California in 1997, acting and writing for television and film was the last thing on his mind. He soon became enthralled with the power of story to convey meaning and truth. This led to an acting class and a role that would forever change his life.
Playing retired professor Serebryakov in Mamet's adaptation of Uncle Vanya, Carter fell in love with the craft of acting. Having long tried to drive out self-centered arrogance, playing the narcissistic professor forced him to face his own inner demons. The personal benefit paired with the power of the story launched Carter on a new career.
Soon after that first play, Carter Mason arranged his life in such a way he could pursue acting and writing full-time. He moved from his college home of Azusa (east of Los Angeles) to Venice Beach to be closer to the industry. In November of 2002, Carter acquired representation for both commercial and theatrical acting with Castle Hill Enterprises and has been booking work in Hollywood ever since.
Since his commitment to a full-time pursuit of acting, Carter has been on two Lifetime Television Network shows (Secret Lives and What Should You Do?) and a show on the Discovery Channel (Mob Scene). In addition, Carter has acted in numerous short and feature films, a commercial, and an infomercial.
Carter carries with him a love for the stage and seeks to perform in three to four plays each year on top of his film and television acting. You can find out what Carter is currently working on here: Current Projects
